It's official...we're homeowners!

It’s been a long time coming, and only took being relocated nearly 1800 miles away from “home” for it to become a reality. We officially signed the papers today, were handed over the keys, and took ownership of a 19 year old house in the northern part of Atlanta.

After taking a promotion and being asked to relocate to Atlanta, Cara and I decided to throw around the idea of buying immediately instead of renting. Why? Well, a couple reasons:

• We were sick of renting and living in temporary situations
• Buying, monthly, was cheaper than renting
• Atlanta is seeing a decent climb in housing values and is expected to continue as the entertainment/movie industry continues to grow in the area
• Why not?

A couple of back to back work trips allowed us to meet with a realtor and get an idea of what we could afford, what was available to us, check out the neighborhoods nearby and do some walk-throughs to check them out. After spending about 6 hours checking out over 10 houses, we found the one. Did the necessary inspection and all was well so we proceeded with an offer. Offer was countered and we accepted, moving on for closing on 9/30/2015…today. So today, we met the sellers, signed a bunch of papers, were handed the keys and now we own a piece of property in a very family friendly and active community in Marietta, GA.

Now all we have to do is wait less than a month, do our final move, buy some furniture and some appliances, and move in!
