Lia's First Birthday

Can’t believe our little girl is 1 year old already. It seems like it was just yesterday (end cliche response) we were bringing her home from the birthing center but like they say, time flies when you’re having fun (ok, last cliche response).

We ended up celebrating her birthday a couple weeks early due to timing issues with family and us moving but at this age, she won’t mind. We spent the day with family and friends, having lunch and playing with our new toys. Once we all started singing happy birthday to her though, the water works turned on. We gave her access to her cake, but besides a small finger touch, she didn’t want much to do with it…at least not until later when we put it on the ground and she had more fun smashing it into the hardwood than actually eating it. Maybe she prefers pie? We’ll see.

Of course, we couldn’t just have a party a couple weeks early and that’s it so on her actual birthday, we did what we normally do…we took pictures. This time, Cara made her a different cake and a mess was made. Lucky for Grandma and Grandpa, it was outside.
