5 Year Anniversary - Savannah

June 2, 2017

Originally we planned on heading to Philadelphia to enjoy some US history (since Cara is a big history buff) but the finances just didn’t work in our favor so we figured why not head down to Savannah as another source of history? We had been talking about it since we moved to Georgia and finally got a chance so we packed up our bags and began our 4 hour trip. Surprisingly, the drive wasn’t too bad and Lia only fought us once, to which she quickly fell asleep afterwards.

Besides walking the waterfront and checking out the different squares in the historic district, we took a trolley tour and managed to find some interesting restaurants. One even had deep fried banana peppers, which aren’t all that odd but since we hadn’t ever heard of them before we had to get them. Lia noticed the small boats on the water (ferries) so we made it a point to go out and ride one.

We made it out to Tybee Island to spend a day at the beach where Lia played in the sand and asked Mommy to “build her a snowman” (she had just recently gotten in to Froze, so even on the beach she expected a snowman to be built). We played in the waves, which she was excited about and yet somewhat reluctant to enjoy. Before leaving we explored the pier and watched a couple guys catch some fish as well as enjoyed the views of the coast.

On our way out of town, we had planned to stop by the train/children’s museum but unfortunately they were closed for the one rare Sunday they close on. Luckily, we didn’t get Lia prepped for it so we wasn’t disappointed to find out we weren’t going. Got home after a few freeway delays and prepared to go back to reality.
