Merry Christmas

December 25, 2017

This year we did a little bit of what we’ve done in previous years as well as some new. We threw our 2nd annual Xmas party with friends and did it potluck style with everyone bringing some fantastic dishes. The kids played and decorated some cookies (even the adults did too) while the parents wrangled the kids and got *some* adult conversations in.

As we got closer to Christmas, we wanted to go do something Christmasy but with a newborn we were somewhat limited. Lia had mentioned she wanted to see Santa but we only knew of the ones at the mall. Looking around we saw that Battery Atlanta, the multi-functional area next to Suntrust Park where the Braves play, had a Santa, ice skating, a tree lighting, and restaurants. We made a night of it and started it off with seeing Santa, to which Lia was extremely excited and even Nora let him hold her. They got their pictures taken (which were free, by the way) then headed over to see what else was going on. Checked out a few decorations, saw the people ice skate, did some dancing to the DJ playing music, then ate at Antico Pizza with some gelato afterwards.

Christmas Day came around and Lia was excited to see whether Santa brought her what she asked for or not. Unfortunately, she asked for a “birdie” and we could only assume this meant a Hatchimal, which we didn’t get her. We improvised and told her that Santa couldn’t make it because it was for kids 5+…she bought it, we’re awesome parents. We continued the tradition of having her do a scavenger hunt for her first gift and you can tell she was still a little tired that morning. We opened hers and our gifts first (she had nearly 25 and we had a couple) but between making breakfast and Nora needing her nap, we had to wait until later to do Nora’s gifts…we’re pretty sure she was none the wiser. Later that evening, we were invited to a friend’s house for Christmas dinner where again the kids played and the adults had *some* adult conversations.

All in all, we had a fantastic Christmas and even though it was our 3rd one away from family, we’ve found some awesome friends and spending time with them is making it easier and easier.

From our family to yours, we hope you all had a Merry Christmas!
