Sope Creek Hike - Getting out in 2020
December 23, 2021After a few months of being on lockdown, Georgia started to slowly open a few public places like parks and trails. A while back Cara had brought the kids here for a home school get together where the kids learned about things in nature.
We had talked about ways to start getting out of the house as we were starting to feel the effects and Cara mentioned we should all go for a hike, including Rex, down at Sope Creek. Our goal was to just hike some of the trails but the kids wanted to go down to the river and play in it like last time.
It was a decently warm day with the obvious humidity but like most things in 2020, this year wasn’t like the previous. By that I mean the weather has been unseasonably cooler than before. In late May/early June the arrival of summer is usually pretty obvious but we were still getting highs only in the 70s and lows still very comfortable. So while it was still warm, it was “manageable” with a tall bottle of water handy and cooler cloths.
The kids loved it, Rex loved it too, and we liked getting out so we’ll be back to explore some more.
