Callaway Gardens

July 9, 2020

So here we are in the middle of a worldwide pandemic and things in the heart of Atlanta were slowly starting to open with restrictions. But for the most part, nothing was opening up that we felt was necessary to get us out of the house. Yes, cabin fever was kicking in. Yes, every day was like groundhogs day. Yes, the family that enjoys getting out and traveling was getting antsy. When a deal came up to visit a resort about 2 hours south of us in the middle of Georgia, we gave it a go.

Callaway Gardens is a well-known resort and nature park where you can stay and play. The resort was very nice, though most of the food options were very limited. However, the lake and the pool were both open as was the gardens where we got to check out the butterfly garden and see the giant bug exhibit. There were experiences like zip lines and a treetop maze open as well but the kids weren’t interested.

On our way out, Cara heard of a wild animal safari park that you could drive your car through and see/feed the animals so we stopped and experienced animals up close. The girls loved throwing the food and seeing the animals but were more excited to ride in the front while we drove.

While it wasn’t the trip we were looking forward to in 2020, it was one we were happy to be able to take.
