Lia's First Season of Baseball

March 13, 2021

When we started Lia in soccer, she and I discussed baseball as well but the problem was we couldn’t find a baseball league we liked. I’ll be honest, I didn’t put a ton of effort into researching it, but when the discussion came up I looked and didn’t find much. I believe it was a facebook sponsored post that came up and was for East Marietta Little League…not sure how I missed that one but I did.

We stayed tuned to the updates as they came out and immediately signed her up when registration opened. Thinking she’d start off in T-ball, I was immediately informed that the levels of baseball weren’t what I remember it being. You started off in t-ball, then went to coach pitch, then minors, then majors and then onto senior ball. Nope, that must have been small town stuff because their league consists of t-ball, farm ball (i.e. coach pitch but with a tee if they don’t hit it), rookie ball (coach pitch), minors, majors, juniors and then seniors. Instead of t-ball, she was thrown right into farm ball.

Of course this had me nervous, was she ready to hit a pitch? She had done well off the tee but not so much with pitching. Luckily, she was willing to learn and the coaches did great helping her with her swing and how to watch the ball. Most of her at-bats were still hits off the tee but there were a few proud dad moments when the pitch came in and *clink*, she hit it.

She’s excited about baseball and says she wants to be the first girl to play in the majors (aka pro ball). Aim for the sky big girl!
