Pregnancy

David and I found out we were expecting on Valentine’s Day of this year. I had gotten home from work, had a very bad day and when cooking dinner hurt my hand on a pan to top it all off. Needless to say that was my last straw and was really wanting a beer but since we had been trying to get pregnant I knew I had to take a test to see if I was able to have a beer or not. Once I took the test, I hid it in the bathroom and asked David to go take a peek. He returned with a smile on his face and showed me that we were indeed expecting!! I didn’t get to have a beer that night but at least I had a better explanation of why I felt ‘all over the place.’

Overall I had a great pregnancy! I had no complications that caused me to have to choose an alternative birthing plan and I felt great most of the time. I had morning sickness during the 1st and beginning of the 2nd trimester but it wasn’t consistent and eventually I figured out ways to ‘prevent’ it as much as possible. I didn’t have any cravings that were weird or outrageous, just the typical things that sounded good or not good at all. Chicken and meat in general was a huge aversion for me, this made it really hard to get a good amount of protein when I ate. The biggest inconvenience of the entire pregnancy and the part that I could do without having again was my swelling. My feet/ankles/calfs got SO swollen it made it hard to walk at the end of the day and from month 5 on I was only able to wear one pair of flip flops! Being pregnant was exhilarating, exciting, and such a great experience… but the best part about it was the end result- our beautiful Lia Jenette 😀
